Spring is right around the corner.  And with the change of seasons comes the itch to travel.  If you’re planning to jet set across the country or around the world, you’ve got to have the right look.  That’s why Cotton Candy Magazine® has identified the most prolific beauty trends in some of the world’s most fashion-forward cities.  Beauty contributor and Atlanta-based makeup artist Claudia Mejerle shows us how to pull off each of these trends and upgrade your look.

Location: New York City
Trend: Luminous skin
Luminous skin – skin that is natural, airy and glowing – is all about keeping the foundation light and not over powdering.  After moisturizing, add a couple drops of luminizer to your foundation and thoroughly blend into your skin.  Conceal where needed and limit powder to around the nose and lightly across the forehead and chin.  To add some warmth to your skin, dust on a shimmery, although not glittery, bronzer where the sun would naturally hit your face.

Location: Chicago
Trend: Neon lips
Bright, neon colors are big this spring, especially on lips. You can go anywhere from bold and opaque to soft and sheer. For a bold look, line the lips and apply lipstick with a lip brush. For a softer look, apply a sheer lipstick or gloss.  Your neon lips should be the focus of your face, so pair them with soft, natural makeup.

Location: London
Trend: Bright eyes
This season, pops of color are big, particularly on the eyes. Some of the looks on the runway are pretty wild and colorful for every day, but you can make this look wearable by choosing a bright eye shadow or liner and concentrating it on the lid only.  Since the eyes should be the focus of the face with this trend, keep the cheeks and lips neutral so you don’t look overdone.

Location: Los Angeles
Trend: Bold brows
Bold brows are in vogue. Don’t be afraid to make them a bit straighter than normal.  The boyish brow – full and less arched – makes quite a statement, so keep the rest of your makeup soft and nude. Brush through your brows in an upward motion, and fill them in with a brush and brow powder, then set them with clear brow gel.

Location: Paris
Trend: Blush-toned face
Washes of rosy colors on eyes, cheeks and lips create a soft, romantic look.  Since the look is rather monochromatic, you can multitask and use a cream blush on cheeks and lips and use a shimmery, rosy blush on both cheeks and eyes.

Location: Tokyo
Trend: Long, lush lashes
Everyone is after long, full lashes. Lash extensions and lash growth serums are popular, but the look can be achieved in other ways. There are false lashes of course, but thanks to many of the new, fiber-infused mascaras available now, you can get a similar look from a tube.  First, curl your lashes, startling at the base and work your way up. Then dot dark eyeliner between your top lashes at the root to make them appear thicker and finish with a couple coats of mascara.
